If you visit Francestown in the winter, you’ll want to stop by Crotched Mountain to partake in some skiing. This mountain features 25 trails with difficulty ratings for all skiers. The summit of the mountain stands at 2,066 feet with slopes dropping skiers down to a base elevation of 1,050 feet across 100 skiable acres. Greenfield State Park - Distance 8.7 Miles
Outdoor enthusiasts won’t want to miss Greenfield State Park. This 400-acre park has many natural wonders including ponds, bogs and forests as well as Otter Lake. The park has opportunities for swimming, boating, hiking, fishing and various other water activities. Fees are minimal but do cost $4 for adults and $2 for children 6-11. Be advised that during the offseason, the park is typically not staffed along with other closures.

Franklin Pierce Homestead - Distance 9.4 Miles
Come explore the home of Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the U.S. President Pierce lived in this home from infancy to his marriage in 1834. The museum is open seasonally and tickets are inexpensive but depend on if you live in New Hampshire.

Wapack National Wildlife Refuge encompasses 1,672 acres and is a key hawk migration area, providing home for various migratory birds. The refuge is also home to a variety of upland wildlife. Mariposa Museum features hands-on exhibits with artifacts from around the world. Pats Peak Ski Area is a top-rated ski resort in New Hampshire that offers plenty of things to do during the winter. It is home to 28 trails and three terrain parks.
